As a life-long Oregonian, Max’s career has been focused on improving the state he loves. He has provided leadership in public, non-profit, and private sectors, consequently inspiring a greater experience of community. Max continues to serve in a variety of consulting and advisory roles for public, private and nonprofit organizations. He and his wife Gina love to travel, particularly to see their grandchildren.
Max practiced law for more than a decade at Miller Nash in Portland where he represented clients in business, securities, and real estate matters. He was elected to the Oregon Legislature for three terms, representing east Washington County and Chaired the House Judiciary Committee. Max then pivoted to the Executive Branch of state government and spent 8 years leading the Oregon Department of Corrections, one of the State’s largest and most complex agencies. More recently Max spent the last 11 years leading the state’s largest public charity as the President and CEO on Oregon Community Foundation.
